Thursday, September 14, 2017 - 8:00pm
Margaret Clapp Library Lecture Room

Not since the years of the Cold War has Russia been so dominant—or so threatening—in global affairs as she is today. President Vladimir Putin continues to top Forbes’s list of the world’s most powerful people. Russia is once again a major player on the world stage and has insinuated itself into American politics to an absolutely unprecedented degree. In a panel moderated by Wellesley College Professor of Russian Adam Weiner, our Wellesley College Russia experts—Professor Jason Cieply, Russian department; Professor Igor Logvinenko, Political Science department; and Professor Nina Tumarkin, History department—will address some of the major challenges and achievements of the world’s largest country at a moment when Russian-U.S. relations are in a dangerous state of  ux and Russia marks the centennial of its 1917 revolution.
