Summer Language Study in Hindi and Urdu
We would like to call attention to varied summer opportunities to begin or pursue further language study in Hindi and/or Urdu. If you need help finding a language study program, please reach out to ccandlan@wellesley.edu. Additionally, Wellesley College has funds to support summer foreign language study and applications are available through the Mayling Soong Committee.
In India
American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS) Language Programs is an intensive language study for graduate and highly motivated undergraduate students from U.S. colleges and universities.
In Pakistan
LUMS Urdu Language Program is an 8 week immersive program where students from around the world can study Urdu language and literature, and learn about Pakistani society and culture first-hand at LUMS, the leading university in Pakistan’s cultural capital, Lahore.
In the United States
The South Asia Summer Language Institute hosted at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, will begin to accept applications for summer 2024 this fall! SASLI offers intensive language courses in the following languages: Dari, Punjabi, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Marathi, Nepali, Pashto, Sanskrit, Sinhala, Tamil, Tibetan, and Urdu. A variety of funding opportunities are available. The 2024 program will be held in-person this year and will run from June 17th to August 9th. The due date to apply is TBA.
