01 The most powerful women’s network on the planet

It’s global, it’s interconnected, and it is, frankly, awe-inspiring. It’s tens of thousands of women who graduated from Wellesley and want to support the next generation of Wellesley women. You’ll see these women on campus. You’ll call them when you need an internship in Senegal or a place to stay in Seattle. You’ll ask them for advice or inspiration or a meal. And they’ll deliver.

02 Our community

More than half of our community members identify as students of color. Fourteen percent are international students. Nearly 60 percent receive financial aid. We’re home to dozens of student-run cultural organizations. The numbers matter, but it’s the experience that counts. And the experience here includes working alongside (and learning from, and honoring the stories of) people who are fabulously not you. Which is much like the experience of being alive in the world today.

03 Experiential learning

To say that Wellesley is a liberal arts and sciences college is merely to say that we offer more than 50 majors; hundreds of funded internships around the world; and hundreds of opportunities to do research, engage with communities, and collaborate with leaders around that same world. And you have a free hand in deciding how all of those things fit together to become an education. Which isn’t so "mere" at all.

04 The faculty

They’re more than just “the professor who opened my mind” or “the person who wrote the recommendation that blew away the scholarship committee” or “the world-renowned neuroscientist who always seems to have time to talk about my plans” or “the person who showed me what it means to love, really love, what you do.” They’re supernaturally talented people who are also grounded and generous and dedicated to your advancement. Is there an emoji for that? There is not.

05 The power of place

We’re taking a big breath before we say this, but: Wellesley is like no other place on earth. Our buildings are named for women. The majority of our faculty are women. When you come to Wellesley, you’re grounded in a stunning 500-acre campus that was built for women—a place that has stood for nearly 150 years as a foundation for our shared promise. We’re also 12 miles from Boston and Cambridge, a source of world-class culture, 250,000 college students, and pretty much unlimited opportunities. Wellesley is a powerful idea, an empowering experience, and a singular place.

06 Career Education

We call it Career Education because “a toolkit for trailblazers, including funded internships, civic engagement, alumnae mentorship, post-graduate fellowships and scholarships, and individualized counseling that helps you pull it all together into a complete picture of the life you want” felt a little unwieldy. It starts in your first year, and it doesn’t end at graduation. Our dedicated alumnae career advisors work with Wellesley alums throughout their lives.

07 The (very bright!) financial picture

Our admission process is need-blind, meaning we admit students regardless of their financial need. Then we make Wellesley possible: We meet 100 percent of calculated need for admitted students (and the majority of our students receive financial aid). Our average aid award—which doesn’t have to be repaid! — is over $62,000. The result is a fantastically talented, socio-economically diverse student body. Another result: Our graduates have low student debt—significantly less than the national average. Also, there’s no fee to apply to Wellesley. We’re not about barriers; we’re about liberation.
