On-Campus Recruiting Program Policies (Students)

Career Education requires all students to abide by the following rules in order to maintain the success and integrity of Wellesley’s recruiting program:

  1. All documents uploaded and submitted through Handshake, including but not limited to applications, resumes, cover letters, transcripts, writing samples, and test scores, must be truthful and untampered with. Note: If a company or organization contacts Career Education and reports any occurrence of an untruthful statement or tampering with a document, the student will be referred immediately to Honor Code Council. Companies and organizations have the right to rescind offers of employment in such instances.
  2. Students must cancel or reschedule interviews and mock interviews with employers and/or alumnae at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled appointment, in addition to emailing recruiting@wellesley.edu. Failure to provide 24-hour notification will result in temporary suspension from Handshake, which includes access to Career Education events, appointments, resources and interviews, and/or additional restrictive actions by Career Education. To lift this suspension, you will need to meet with a member of Career Education to talk about how to avoid “no show” interviews in the future. In the event your account is suspended, please call 781.283.2352 or email careerducation@wellesley.edu. In the event that you are ill or an emergency occurs, please call Career Education at 781.283.2352 no later than 8:30 a.m. on the morning of the interview.
  3. Student who are studying abroad and have been selected to interview, please email recruiting@wellesley.edu immediately to see if the employer can accommodate a virtual or telephone interview.
  4. Once a student accepts a job or internship offer, either verbally or in writing, it is BINDING. Please contact Career Education to report the offer acceptance, and drop/cancel all other upcoming applications and recruiting related interviews as well as withdraw from the on campus recruiting program.
  5. Career Education makes no endorsements or guarantees regarding companies or organizations seeking to hire Wellesley College students or alumnae. Career Education is not responsible for any employment decisions made by companies or organizations.

Failure to abide by these policies may result in suspension from Handshake, removal from the recruiting program and/or referral to Honor Code Council. For students who are suspended from Handshake and or the on campus recruiting program, reinstatement will be at the discretion of Career Education staff.

Please Note: Employers each have their own policies, procedures and timelines when it comes to recruitment and interviewing. Therefore, Wellesley College cannot guarantee any flexibility or accommodation with regards to students' requests for virtual interviews while abroad or requests to reschedule an interview for another day.

Beware of Fraudulent Employers

Career Education provides job listings for the convenience of students and alumnae. While every effort is made to verify the legitimacy of both organizations and jobs posted, the college does not endorse or recommend any particular employer, and a posting does not constitute an endorsement or recommendation. The college explicitly makes no representations or guarantees about job listings or the accuracy of the information provided by the employer. The university is not responsible for safety, wages, working conditions, or any other aspect of off-campus employment without limitation. It is the responsibility of students to perform due diligence in researching employers when applying for or accepting private, off-campus employment and to thoroughly research the facts and reputation of each organization to which they are applying. Students should be prudent and use common sense and caution when applying for or accepting any position.
