About

The Madeleine Korbel Albright Institute for Global Affairs (MKAI) aims to stimulate crossdisciplinary engagement with global affairs at Wellesley and beyond. To that end, we are excited to launch a two-year pilot (AY 2024-25 and AY 2025-26) Albright Faculty Affiliates program designed to provide a platform for Wellesley faculty across all disciplines to connect, build community, and collaborate with other faculty and students toward advancing high-quality research that addresses global challenges. In partnership with the Wagner Centers for Wellesley in the World, the Albright Faculty Affiliates program will foster an inclusive and productive environment, bridging the gap between scientific inquiry and societal impact. Over the course of the two pilot years, we will be evaluating the features of the program and adjusting them in consultation with the Albright Faculty Advisory Committee and the Provost’s Office as needed to benefit the faculty, students, the Institute, and the College.

Bringing the power of the liberal arts to global challenges

Grounded in the liberal arts and the service philosophies of Wellesley College, the Madeleine Korbel Albright Institute for Global Affairs draws linkages between education and practice for aspiring global leaders and exemplifies and advocates for the value of diverse and multidisciplinary perspectives when addressing global challenges.

The Albright Institute Fellowship, our flagship program open to Wellesley juniors and seniors, selects 40 Fellows per year to participate in an intensive training in global affairs followed by a practicum experience. Apart from the Fellowship, the Albright Institute stimulates cross-disciplinary engagement with global affairs at Wellesley and beyond through internship offerings, public lectures, and support to innovative academic programming.

The Albright Institute is guided by Secretary Madeleine Korbel Albright’s collaborative leadership style and dedication to public service as well as the mission and values of Wellesley College. In our work, we center:

  • Collaborative Leadership

  • Inclusivity

  • Real World Experience

  • Public Service.

Since its founding in 2010, the Albright Institute has supported global engagement experiences for hundreds of Wellesley students, helping to shape the next generation of global leaders.
