She has focused her studies on developmental programs and policies. She recently completed a year as an assistant researcher for MIT's D-Lab and then MIT's Sociotechnical Systems Research Centre to evaluate an agricultural development project in Bihar, India, funded by the Gates Foundation and the World Bank. In the summer of 2022, Shantha worked in Oxford as an intern at the Oxford Global Women's Narratives Project where she edited narratives from around the world to be published on the GWNP website. On campus, she has been a teaching assistant for the class Intro to World Politics and can be found singing with the MIT-Wellesley Toons acapella group twice a week. She has a working knowledge of French. Shantha's goal after graduation is to work in the think tank and policymaking space on development policy to gain experience before she returns to India to apply what she has learned.
