In the summer of 2021, Julia interned at Genetic Alliance, a D.C.-based nonprofit, where she conducted stakeholder analyses, researched clinical trials, and co-authored a perspective article discussing public health, reproductive justice, and ethics in gene editing. She also spent the fall semester of her senior year in the south of France studying translation, immigration, and French political life. In addition to her studies, Julia is the former Co-President and Dance Capitan of Yanvalou Drum and Dance Ensemble and is also a member of the Tupelos a capella group. She is proficient in French and hopes to become proficient in Haitian Creole in the future. Julia is passionate about the intersection between public health and social justice and plans to work abroad in the field before pursuing a master’s degree in public health. Her ultimate goal is to help fortify public health infrastructure in the francophone world.
