She is concentrating in narratives of the African Diaspora, particularly the embodied experience of Africans and their diasporic descendants. In the summer of 2021, Thayer worked as an intern with The Immigration Project as well as the Immigrant and Refugee Law Center, where they worked directly with clients on various USCIS documents as well as sitting in on intake interviews. On campus, Thayer works in the Clapp Library managing interlibrary loans, sings with Harambee Singers, and is a member of Yanvalou, which performs the folkloric music and dance of Africa as it exists today throughout the African Diaspora. She has a working knowledge of Portuguese. Thayer’s goal upon graduation is to gain work and volunteer experience before attending law school.
