She has also taken extensive coursework in sociology. In January 2020, she studied abroad in Tanzania studying Swahili culture and language. On campus, she works for the Office of Intercultural Education as a Community Inclusion Facilitator and at the Help Desk. She is the creative director of Wellesley African Students Association (WASA), the social media manager of Society Zeta Alpha, and an active member of Al-Muslimat. She is a native speaker of Somali and has a working knowledge of Swahili and Turkish. In the future, Xafsa would like to engage in socio-economic development work within East Africa, specifically Somalia and has a strong interest in diaspora relations.
