Class Deans

students gathering on campus

The Class Deans work closely together to provide strong individualized advising to students.

Our Mission:

The Office of the Class Deans at Wellesley College is committed to providing holistic advising - from orientation through commencement - to all students in order to facilitate their growth and success at Wellesley and beyond.

We collaborate with faculty advisors and staff members from many other offices across the College to help make sure all of our students have the support they need to realize their goals. Students can also email their Class Dean directly to set up a meeting.

Commonly used forms

Listed below are forms that students may need to fill out at certain points of their Wellesley career.

Please note that some forms are not currently available online.  Please consult your Class Dean with any questions.

Degree Requirements

Your chosen major will determine many requirements as you progress toward your degree at Wellesley.  Class deans and advisors are there to help.

Certain common requirements for graduation apply regardless of your major, the key points of which we outline here. Students with questions about Wellesley College degree requirements should speak with their class dean.

Engineering Opportunities

Within the context of a Wellesley liberal arts education, there are a number of options available to students who wish to pursue an interest in engineering.

Each program is distinct in its characteristics and may provide different advantages to different students, depending on a student's individual academic interests and needs.  Interested students are encouraged to explore each of these options carefully.

However, as Wellesley is a liberal arts institution that offers Bachelors of Arts degrees, engineering is not a major that is offered at Wellesley.

Transfer Students

Wellesley welcomes students who have transferred from various schools as well as students participating in exchange programs.

If you are interested in transferring to Wellesley College, please visit our Admissions Office web page.

Checklist for transfer students entering in fall

Checklist for transfer students entering in spring

If you have already been accepted as a transfer student and will enter Wellesley please check the pages regularly for information related to your arrival, Orientation, and your first semester at Wellesley. Once you have paid your deposit and received information about logging into Wellesley's online systems, you should follow the link in the top left hand corner of this page to MyWellesley. There, on a tab labeled "Entering Students" you will find a checklist of tasks to complete before your arrival.

Quantitative Reasoning Requirement.  All students take our Quantitative Reasoning Basic Skills Assessment as they enter Wellesley, and you will take this shortly after your arrival.  You will need to take this assessment even if you are receiving transfer credit for a statistics course taken elsewhere; passing this assessment is itself part of the requirement.  You can prepare for this assessment by reviewing the material and taking the practice test.

Religious Holiday Observance

For Students - Notification to your faculty about a missed class due to Religious Holiday Observance:

Students who intend to observe any religious holy day in a manner that necessitates missing class or work assignments should inform their instructors within the first two weeks of each semester of their intent (even when the exact date of the day will not be known until later) so that alternative arrangements convenient to both students and faculty can be made at the earliest opportunity.

Students use the Religious Observance Notification Form to inform faculty that they will be missing class during religious holidays. This form does not take the place of students following up with their instructors to make arrangements for any work they may miss during their observance. Please fill out the form and speak with each instructor in advance of any missed class.

For more on Wellesley College’s religious observance policy and the multifaith religious observance calendar, visit ORSL’s website. For questions or concerns, please contact Dean Jackie Marquez in the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life at jm100@wellesley.edu.
